Papers, 1833-1976.

Collection was generated by Mathew's search for material on Roger Fenton, a noted English photographer and lawyer. There is a copy of a letter from George Brown to his mother with a note to a Mrs. Fenton. Other correspondence reveals that several repositories including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Library of Congress, contain Roger Fenton's photographs. There are letters between Fenton family members, whose family seat was Grimble Hall at Rochdale, England. They reveal life in England in the 1940s and 1950s. Other miscellaneous items include copies of photographs of the Crimean War, a copy of a photograph of the south front of the Kremlin, a photograph copy of three of Queen Victoria's children and many other photographs.
